He satisfied my soul
Like Job of old
I had only heard it told
How great Jesus was and of his glory
I had heard the great story
I yearned to really know Him
But my chances were slim
Everyone said you just believe
Nothing real to receive.
My soul could not be still
In my heart I know something more is real.
The desire for him was so strong
In my heart I knew they were wrong.
My soul cried out; hoping that some day
The real power of God would come my way.
The more ‘they’ said no
The more I knew it had to be so.
Day and night my soul sought for this great love
That I knew God had given from above.
Please Lord, let me feel your great power
Just for one day or one hour.
My soul is sick with longing for you
And those around me say it is not true;
All we must do is accept a dead religion
All else is mere superstition.
The more they tried to hush me the more I cried
Dear Jesus, I need you and I will lay down my pride
Just come and fill me
And let me finally really know thee.
And finally the great day came…. May 31, 1964
I will be denied no more.
From Mark 10…Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
Greatest event in my life; He came to me
He satisfied my great need
He satisfied my great longing
He satisfied more than I could have asked for
He gave me more than I imagined; he is so great;
His Spirit of the Holy Ghost is more than mortal tongue can tell
It is joy unspeakable and full of glory.
Thank you my Lord Jesus for 56 years of this glory.
Now I can tell the story; I have seen him for myself and not another.
I now say with Job of old
I have more than was told.
