I heard you call
By: Jo Smith ~~~ July 3, 2021
I heard you call my name.
I know I will never be the same.
I listen with all my heart
While others say we are apart.
They say you are gone and will never return.
But my heart will never accept this ruin.
I seek you here and there
I will go anywhere
I will never give up as long as I live
For I know you are there to give
Me the joy of my soul and make me whole.
Excitedly I run through the trees
And I hear your voice in the breeze.
I sit down and listen and I hear you sing
Your voice is more joy than any other thing.
I sit down by the little bubbling brook
And I see your sweet look.
I hear you laughing and playing.
But they just keep on saying
That I am crazy and have lost my way.
But I am here waiting to hear you say
Come out and with me play.
I lay down to sleep and begin to weep.
You are not far away for I hear you call.
I rise and run through the hall
And down the road and climb a hill.
I know you are there still… Waiting for me.
Everyone will soon see.
I look up at the stars so bright
And I see your face as a guiding light.
I look at the moon and know I will see you soon.
I see you in the sun and know you are having fun.
You whisper, I love you, and that is all I need.
Upon hearing your voice my soul doth feed.
Remember when we used to float our little boats
In the little creeks and lay on our floats.
We ran and played hide and seek
And you laughed and said, don’t peek.
This little girl was more precious than gold.
I know that I will yet get to hold
Her and hear her say, Mama.
But everyone else says I am in a trauma.
But still I search for I heard you call.
I see you glowing in the fall.
I look under the bush and around the flowers.
I know you are there pretending to climb high towers.
It is a game we used to play together.
We danced in all kinds of weather.
And so no matter how many say I cannot hear your voice
I still know you called me and therefore I rejoice.
We played in the snow and in the rain.
My heart does know this kind of pain.
But then I see your sweet smile
And I know I will see you in a little while.
You said, Mommy, tell me another story.
And I see you how much you do glory
In knowing the Word of God as such a little girl.
You were the most precious little pearl.
God gave me his finest gift
and your sweet voice could lift
All sorrow and hurt
So I will stay alert
And listen to hear you call
Then we will run and play in heaven’s hall.
Jeremiah 31:15
Thus saith the Lord; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.
Matthew 2:18
In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
