~ The Rich Man’s Crumbs ~
You are hungry! You are hungry!
Worse than that, you are starving! You are perishing! You have become so weak from lack of nourishment you can’t stand and walk. You must be carried. Not only that, but you are full of sores from having been beaten and wounded so many times by your masters. Your parents took you, and now your friends carry you and lay you down at the gates of a very rich man. They know this rich man has large farms and many servants who have gotten this rich man so much goods, that he has torn down all his store-houses and built much bigger ones to bestow all his goods in. So they think, surely this rich man, who has so much more than he could ever use, will have pity on this weak, sick person and give him something to eat. He also has enough money to get this sick man the very best of medical care. He will surely help him.
Lu 16:19 There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: 16:20 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,
Lu 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
When the RICH young ruler came to Jesus to ask what good work he himself could do to have eternal life, and Jesus told him to sell his goods and give to the poor, this rich man went away sorrowful. So he also had the ‘sores’. They are wounds the law placed upon them. They are wounds they received in the house of Jesus’ enemies, those high priests and rulers of LAW. He was wounded by them for our transgressions. These are the WOUNDS I received in the house of my friends, said Jesus. So they were full of sores, laying at this rich man’s gates. These are the gates to hell. These are Satan’s ministers transforming themselves as ministers of light. They are taking money as pay for their work in the ‘vineyard’. They acquired their ‘riches’ by taking money from the sick, and wounded ‘Lazaruses’. These ‘gates’ are the law and their priests. That Old Covenant is the gate to hell. You must enter in through them to go to hell. The Apostles are the gates to the Holy City of God. You must enter in through them to go to Heaven.
All the tables are full of vomit and filthiness. These are the OT law tables. These are the rich churches. We are rich and increased with GOODS and have need of nothing. We will tear down our big ‘barns’ (church buildings) and build greater. But we will never feed those sick folks laying at our gates.s
The sick man was desiring to be fed the CRUMBS which fell from the Rich Man’s table.
Crumbs: Strong’s Greek# 5589-- a little bit or morsel. This comes from the base of # 5567. = to twitch or twang, i.e. to play a stringed instrument (to celebrate the divine worship with music and accompanying odes): make melody, sing. And this links with # 5568--a set piece of music with voice, harp or other instrument. Now this is powerful! These CRUMBS falling from this rich man’s table (spiritual eating place) is nothing more than music and singing. My, so this is why I have never cared for this kind of thing!
I could never go to the ‘singings’ and feel it was connected with God. I knew in my heart this did not feed my soul. I knew this was not the true worship which we need or which pleases God. I always felt this in my heart. I always knew music and singing had taken the rightful place of the Word of God and praying in the church. People who care not one thing for the Word of God will go and rejoice at singings.
I have been in many Holiness Church meetings, where they said they had such a ‘good’ service, the preacher did not get to preach. They rejoiced in this. All they had had was a lot of music, singing and some running about.
How does God feel about all of this? Let His Word tell us.
Amos 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies. [This is their appointed church services.]
Am 5:22 Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace offerings of your fat beasts. [This is the OT type worship; law.]
Am 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. [Here God said that he wants no part of their playing and singing.]
Am 5:24 But let judgment run down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream. [This is having right judgment = NT discernment].
Am 5:25 Have ye offered unto me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel? Am 5:26 But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves. [This shows both groups, OT law folks and NT church folks, have their idols which they worship along with their fake offerings.]
Isa 1:6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.
Isa one speaks of the nation of Israel and her whoredoms against God. He speaks of how their rulers love gifts and rewards and offer many animal sacrifices. Yet they are full of wounds and sores, same as Lazarus. See it means they are in sorrow for they are not being fed the Bread from Heaven. They are being ruled over by their law leaders. God said he despises every part of this law type of worship.
Lu 10:30 And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
Lu 10:31 And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Lu 10:32 And likewise a Levite, when he was at the place, came and looked on him, and passed by on the other side.
Lu 10:33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him, Lu 10:34 And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him. Lu 10:35 And on the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence, and gave them to the host, and said unto him, Take care of him; and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee.
Lu 10:36 Which now of these three, thinkest thou, was neighbour unto him that fell among the thieves? Lu 10:37 And he said, He that showed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.
Now a lot is in the above Scripture. See the man fell among thieves which stripped him of his raiment. Raiment is your spiritual covering. These thieves are the ones who enter into the sheepfold but not by the door, Jesus. They come in by law. They wounded this person. This is how the ‘Lazarus’ got the sores. Now see that the PRIEST saw the man and passed by on the other side. He had no desire to help the man. He was not going to feed this man the bread. He cared not for his wounds or lack of covering. He was LAW, no mercy. Next a PRIEST, (also law) passed by without helping the man.
But the Samaritan had mercy, grace, or compassion on the sick man and bound up his wounds. Then he poured in oil and wine = the Spirit and the Word. So this is the Christians, Jesus, Grace. They healed this man and took care of him. They themselves paid for the man’s care. This is the ones in Grace. They show mercy. No law can show mercy. Law is death and bondage. Law is this rich man. It is manifest today in the rich church.
So what we are seeing in these Scriptures is that the people who go to these rich churches of today, which have picked back up that OT law, are full of sores and wounds. These ‘rulers’ of the churches, same as those who ruled in the OT, are making merchandize of you. They are taking your money and getting rich, but they are not feeding you any bread from Heaven. They only feed you their CRUMBS = music and singing, entertainment. You go there hungry, starving for the Word of God to feed your soul. You are hungry for God. But all they give you is crumbs of music and singing. That is 99% of any church meeting’s doings. When they do claim to ‘preach’ they just give out foolish made-up junk. It is not the revelation of the Word, which is the Food from Heaven. So...
Lu 16:22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; Lu 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
The dogs [wicked men; fake ministers; (dogs return to their vomit = OT law and sin)] came and ‘licked’ Lazarus’s sores. This is showing that all they did was sooth over the hungry people with their music, parties, plays, holidays, concerts, ball games, fund-raising drives, etc. They never did minister to their hungry souls. They never did give them the pure Word of God, the Bread from Heaven, for they themselves do not have it. All they have is their worldly riches and treasures of this life. But see that none of this ‘healed’ his ‘sores’. He was still wounded and hungry. So he died! They did not heal him of his sickness. The rich man did not feed this hungry man. The church and law can never give you the Bread from Heaven for your soul. You are hungry, you are starving.
Lu 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. Lu 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. Lu 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Lu 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
Lu 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Lu 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Lu 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Lu 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
If you had believed Moses, you would have known me for Moses wrote of me. [Jesus]. Who were these five brethren? It was the five foolish virgins, churches which have been foolish enough to go back to law after Jesus brought us grace! The rich man was told they have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. Why? Because they are dogs who left grace and went back to law. They returned to those tables full of vomit = law.
So Jesus said now they can never find grace. They must continue to hear law. He said if they will not hear Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded by the resurrection of Jesus. For all the law and prophets testified about Jesus. So they never truly ‘heard’ or understood what these said. So they will die in their sins and darkness of bondage of law and end up in hell fire.
Mt 15:22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
Mt 15:23 But he answered her not a word.
Why did Jesus react this way to the Canaanite woman? Not because she was a Canaanite, but because as such, she had no claims to his help as a Son of David. She was trying to approach Jesus under the grounds of law, his being a son of David. Since she was not an Israelite, she could not come to Jesus on these grounds. So he did not answer her a word.
And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
Mt 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Mt 15:25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
Mt 15:26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and cast it to dogs.
Now here Jesus told this Canaanite woman she was not entitled to the children’s bread, for she was attempting to come to Jesus under law, Son of David. He said cast not that which is holy to dogs [false teachers and folks] and cast not your pearls before swine [same thing]. Both dogs and hogs returned back to law and fell away from Grace. So they are not entitled to the Word of God, the children’s bread. Jesus is checking this woman out right here. He is looking to see what is in her heart. He gives each person who approaches him an opportunity to show what is in their heart.
Mt 15:27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
This woman showed by this statement that she understood spiritual things and wanted truth. She acknowledged that the ‘dogs’ are the ones who desire those ‘crumbs’ [music and frolicking] which fall from that rich man’s table = the churches programs. She also acknowledged that their pastors are masters over these sick, hungry, sore folks. She knows that she is not supposed to be ruled over by dogs. The woman showed that she understood that the dogs [those who returned to vomit; law] are eating those crumbs; but she desires the true Bread from Heaven.
Mt 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.
See when the woman came to Jesus on the grounds of FAITH, when Jesus saw her heart that faith was in her heart, then he could minister to her on these grounds. See the law is NOT of FAITH, so by having faith this woman had come into grace. She showed that she desired the truth from Jesus, not some crumbs. The New Testament, Grace, is FOR EVERYONE, not just Israelites. This promise is to you and your children and all who are afar off, even as many as the Lord Our God shall call. So on these grounds the woman’s daughter was made whole from that very hour.
Oh woman, great is thy faith. You overcame those crumbs and reached out to the only one who could give you the true Bread from Heaven. Those demons had to flee when He spoke to her faith.
James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? 2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called? 5:1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you. 5:6 Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.
See here that the rich go to LAW? They oppress you and blaspheme the Name of Jesus. So the rich man is nothing but that old law. He is not speaking of material riches. He calls the rich of Satan and the poor of God. So it has nothing to do with how much actual money one has. It is spiritual. (Blessed are the poor in spirit.)--rich toward God.
