``````````````Miracle on Ice````````````````
Some of this is in my testimony messages. They are somewhere on the back pages of this community.
This one I touched on briefly there.
But I want to post it under this testimony page.
Some years ago [about seven] --- I did in home sitter work with elderly people. I had a job at this time, which required me to spend the entire weekend with this lady. It was on Monday morning and I was supposed to go home that evening around 6 p.m.
Around noon, the ladies’ granddaughter came and told me to go on home for it was beginning to freeze outside. Well, she waited too long to let me go; for the roads were already frozen.
It was snowing and sleeting and freezing.
I made a decision to go a back way; thinking this would be safer as there would be less traffic. Well, this is not wise at times like that; for the lesser traffic also lets the roads freeze up worse. I am sure all you northerners know this; but we southern gals are not so knowledgeable about these matters.
My windshield was freezing so fast; I only had a tiny peek hole to see through. I was locked up inside with nervousness.
I came to a long, down hill stretch of road. I was going as slow as the car would go. Then the car started sliding toward the right side of the road. I looked in the mirror and saw a car behind me for a brief moment; then saw it no more. It slide off somewhere, I guess. For there were no turn offs anywhere along that stretch of road.
The car kept sliding out of control. I did everything I knew to do; all to no avail. I only had a tiny speck of place to see through.
I tried to steer the car back onto the right lane; but the steering wheel had no effect on the car. I tried to put on brakes; but the brakes had no effect on the car. I was frightened to say the least.
Finally, I was almost at the bottom of the hill, still sliding out of control. By this time, I had reached a bridge. I had cut the motor off, hoping this would stop the car; but this also had no effect on it. It only locked my steering wheel; which was out of control anyway.
I realized I was on the verge of going off the bridge. I thought I am going to be killed and wreck my car. At that instant I called out loud, “Jesus, save me Jesus”.
As God is my witness, that car whirled around on the exact spot without traveling forward an inch. I felt as if I were on a swing. The car came to a complete stop in the middle of the road; sitting across the center line right in the middle of the center line; facing horizontally.
I was sitting there in utter amazement when I noticed a truck coming down the hill from the opposite direction right toward me. I was horrified; for I knew that he too was probably out of control.
I thought if my car doesn’t crank and I am able to move, he will hit me. I prayed, Oh Lord you saved me from going off the bridge, please let this car crank and let me get out of his way.
Well, the car cranked [ I was shaking so badly, I don’t know how I did it] and God helped me get it out of the truck’s way just in time. By this time, my insides were jelly.
I can’t begin to describe the rest of that night-mare drive on home. Only God knows how painful it was. I kept the car in it’s lowest gear; trying to keep it slow enough to keep out of the ditches.
The heater and the wipers were no match for the cold blizzard.
Most of the time, I barely knew where the road was.
I was on a main road for just a few minutes; then had to turn to the left again. As I tried to go left, the car slide to the right. Except that there was driveway there, I would have been in a ditch. Now, my insides were melted jelly.
I managed to stop the car. I was too weak feeling to keep going; but I knew I HAD to. So, I prayed some more. Oh Lord, PLEASE, help me to get home.
Shaking like a leaf, I tried again to make that left turn. This time I made it. I was afraid to move and knew I dared not stop.
The rest of the way home was the same; trying to crawl safely between ditches.
But the real fear inside my g--s, was the road I live on. It is a narrow, private, rough dirt with gravel road. Lots of down hills and S-curves. Wow!! How I dreaded to try to get down it. There is a very narrow, unsafe bridge at the foot of a hill; then a good climb back to the top of a hill; the highest point around there. This is where my home sits. My own drive way was up hill and a mess.
What makes it so bad, is that just across from my drive way, is a deep drop down.
I kept praying and praying for God to help me make it safely. I said Oh Lord you helped me at that bridge; please help me now.
Finally the dreaded moment came and I had to go down that road. [May I never go through such a night-mare again].
I was on ‘pins and needles,’ so to speak. Well, I made it alright until I tried to get up my own drive way. My little car staled here, and would not go another pace. I was horrified. I knew I dared not try to roll backward; for I knew I would go over into that deep drop. I tried and tied to make it go on up the drive. I knew I could not cut it off; I knew I could not dare let it roll back even an inch; or I would be gone. It is a sharp turn in off the other road. There was no way to go back.
So I really did some praying. Oh Lord, Please, please help me get up this hill. You have brought me this far; please don’t stop now; please make this car go on up this hill.
Well, by His grace and love, that car finally went on up the hill. The ice and snow was furious by now.
My steps were frozen. I could not get up them. So I prayed some more. Then I got down on hands and knees and crawled up onto the porch. Then almost could not get the door open. but I finally got into my house. By now, I was too weak to speak almost. All I could do was thank My God for his Miracle on Ice. He had brought me safely home.
Maybe some men who are expert drivers and not afraid of these things, might not appreciate this as a miracle from My God; but I KNOW BETTER! If it had not been for God, I could not have made it.
My soul was then over whelmed with the realization of what had taken place on that bridge. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that God had sent his angels and turned my car around. My soul was singing with joy at knowing my God loved me that much.
For weeks, my soul kept saying, His name is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and is safe.
Yes, I knew in that hour what this means. I knew I had experienced the glory of this truth. I knew It was when I called out to the name of Jesus that he came and helped me.
I made up my mind right there to always try to serve him with all my heart. I was over whelmed with His Love.
Hope this means something of faith building in all who read it.
