Clouds versus the sun
BY: Jo Smith….. April 11, 2021
The clouds keep covering up the sun.
They won’t stop until the day is done.
Every time I try to have some fun
The clouds put me on the run.
The sun shines for a little while
And that makes me have a big smile.
Then I go to walk a mile
And the clouds destroy my style.
Each time the sun comes out
The clouds return without a doubt.
I am going to sit down and pout
Until there comes a big drought.
Is there anything we can do
To stop this? I don’t have a clue.
I want to go to the zoo
But then the clouds burst through.
The sun returns so I am going fishing.
This time it will work, I am wishing.
But the clouds bring a downpour
And I am fishing no more.
Oh, now the sun is shining so I will go for a walk.
I always wanted to go to the lovely park.
But just then dogs begin to bark
And the clouds make it dark.
Why oh why won’t the sun come out and stay
So I can go out and play?
I want to have one sunny day
Without all the delay.
But nay, it is not to be seen
The clouds are just so mean.
I want to go out and clean
All that stuff that is green.
But the clouds will not let me glean
A single thing that is on the scene.
The sun is bright so I must go cut the grass.
But the clouds bust into a big rain, so alas
The grass now stands head tall
And I am telling you, that is not all.
I can’t do anything, big or small.
The clouds are here to stay till fall.
I am now in a state of despair.
But suddenly, the sun appears out of nowhere.
Quick! Hurry out the door. But I declare
Thick clouds rise up everywhere.
I am now well aware
That this is a big snare.
Please say a prayer
That I can make it to the town square.
But also beware
That the clouds will always tear
Up any plans that I have to share.
Arise and let us go.
Even if the wind does blow
And we are covered with show
We must defeat this foe.
I can’t let the clouds defeat my living.
I must always be giving
My best to enjoy my life
Without any more strife.
The clouds I must now embrace
And not allow them to erase
My joy that I have in this place.
I fully see now that this is the case.
So now, rain, wind, or shine
I know that I must find
Joy and happiness in every kind
Of weather, for it is thine.
