Don’t look back
By: Jo Smith ~~~ April 22. 2021
Don’t look back
Stay on track.
If you turn to salt
It is your own fault.
You can’t go forward
You can’t be altered.
You can’t go up or down
You are stuck in this town.
Don’t look to the past
Hold onto something that will last.
Give the world a smile
And walk that last mile.
You are put here to run a race
So don’t be flopping all over the place.
You can be shut up in a pin
But then you will think again.
Think, you say, just what is that?
I am too lean with not enough fat.
I can’t blow up and float
For you did not loan me your boat.
You are stuck in the NOW.
You will survive this somehow.
To Mars you cannot go
Stick around and I will show
You the way; But you must stay.
God did not give you wings
So stop imagining such things.
You cannot fly.
If you try you will die.
Don’t look behind you.
Those things are not true.
Don’t look ahead
It will fill you with dread.
You are here and cannot be there.
Your dreams you must spare.
Do not think they will happen.
Twill only make you sadden.
Keep your eyes on the goal.
Don’t change it for silver or gold.
Your memories are yours to hold.
So go out and be bold.
Don’t twist and turn and fret.
This is something you will regret.
Don’t murmur and complain.
Twill make you insane.
I will come to you and be your guide.
Only you must let go of your pride.
When I open for you a door
Take one step and then no more.
Let it not be said
That you refuse to be led.
There will come a time
And then you will be mine.
Wait on the Lord
And He will be your reward.
If you rebel you will find a sword
You will no longer be adored.
Do not turn to the left or the right.
Trust in the Lord with all your might.
Stay on the right road
And God will lift your load.
There is a way that seems right to man
But the end of this way is not the plan.
This way leads to a downward path
And will bring upon you God’s wrath.
