Without Graves
By: Jo Smith ~~~~ September 4, 2021
They are everywhere! Some here, some there.
They represent sorrow beyond compare.
Each time we see one, we know a heart was broken.
Their grief cannot be spoken.
They never should have been, but then,
This evil entered because of sin.
There are some large ones and some small.
But they are an end of dreams for them all.
I see some who lived a long time.
But then I see those who died in their prime.
Little babies who never got to play
And little children who never got to stay.
They are all gone and left someone alone.
They used to bring us joy with a song.
But now all we have is an empty space.
They have already run their race.
Today I walked among the tombs as I often do,
I had a beautiful thought and I think you will like it too.
Jesus has promised us a world without graves.
To Death there will be no more slaves.
There is coming a great day in God’s tomorrow.
There will be no more death or sorrow.
All the killing and evil will be past.
We will have a glory that will last.
Children of God, look up. Our redemption is near.
In that glorious day there will be nothing to fear.
Nothing will hurt or destroy;
Nothing will be there but love and joy.
I had a vision of this beautiful land.
A land of no darkness, evil or graves is at hand.
War will be no more; heaven is at our door.
Sickness and disease will be no more.
Birds will forever sing and flowers always bloom.
There will be no more reports to bring us gloom.
Little boys and girls will run and play
Joyfully forever, in an endless day.
So when you see a grave, remember to say,
Jesus has promised us great day,
In which the graves will be emptied
And no one will ever be tempted
To again disobey our God and bring about a land full of graves.
