I watched you walk away

I watched you walk away.
For me it was a very sad day.
It was not the first time
That you Would break this heart of mine.

But somehow I knew it would be the last.
As I look back on the past
I always knew this day would arrive.
Our love never had a chance to thrive.

Through all the ups and downs, I learned to abound.
As strange as this may sound,
I saw that I could stand alone;
That I could make a good life on my own.

I now weep no more for my heart is filled with delight.
God has given me so much glory and light.
This is what I needed from the start.
God is the only one who can bless your heart.

If we walk daily with our God
He will show us the right path to trod.
Now I never have to dread that terrible pain
Of watching you walk away again.
